The Big Help Out Initiative - Lend a hand. Make a change. Monday 8th May

With the extra May bank holiday to celebrate the King’s Coronation focusing on volunteering it is a reminder to all of us what a difference lending a hand can make to people’s lives and to communities.

Like many local organisations, SAVE food hub in Seaton is run by volunteers. In fact, it relies on about 35 volunteers. Some volunteer every week, some several times a week and others as and when needed.

Seaton Community Larder window to celebrate the coronation.

One of our Seaton volunteers is Lorraine Richardson who volunteers at the regular Saturday evening session at the Community Larder in Queen Street, Seaton. But her talents do not end there, she also creates a topical window painting on the Larder window which unsurprisingly currently features the Coronation of Charles III and which took over from her Easter Bunny inspired picture over the Easter period.

Apart from volunteering at food collection sessions, our Seaton volunteers also include those who keep the Larder clean, or pick up our food donations, or keep the library fridge stocked, or run fundraising events, or act as trustees. It is quite an undertaking!

On Monday 8th May as part of the national Big Help Out Initiative - Lend a hand. Make a change, there is a beach clean and anyone can support this from 10am at Fisherman’s Gap, Seaton.  Meanwhile, the volunteering at the Larder will carry on beyond the 8th May, of course!
